Job Summary: The Community Support Specialist functions as a case manager with an assigned caseload of children with emotional, behavioral, and/or conduct disorders and their families. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting, developing, and/or applying the Recovery Support Plan and facilitating compliance. The Community Support Specialist Serves as a member of the appropriate interdisciplinary treatment team. This position reports tothe Community Support Services Team Lead.
Qualifications: Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field required; previous experience in a mental health setting preferred. A Provisional Certification through the Department of Mental Health (PCCSS) must be acquired, and documentation must be presented to Human Resources within 90 days from the hire date, and the CCSS must be obtained within two years from the date of issuance of the provisional certification. Employee must demonstrate the ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. The Deputy Director serves as key personnel and a core member of the Executive Leadership Team at Hinds County Mental Health Commission (HCMHC). The Deputy Director plays a critical role in improving driving performance, providing collaborative clinical supervision, and enforcing quality assurance protocols to ensure service excellence. This full-time, exempt (salaried) position reports directly to the Executive Director and requires discretion, professionalism, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing health equity and access.
Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher, preferably a Doctorate, in Mental Health or a health-related field, such as a PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LPC-S, or LMHT. A minimum of four years of leadership experience in behavioral health or public health settings is required, demonstrating expertise in both clinical operations and administrative leadership. The applicant must have a proven ability to manage staff, ensure compliance, drive performance improvement, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience in fiscal oversight, including grant and funding management, budgeting, payroll, and general accounting within governmental, nonprofit, or human services settings is essential. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are necessary for effectively engaging with staff, community partners, and board members. The candidate should be committed to the community mental health model and capable of developing innovative, client-centered programming. Proficiency in grant writing, data interpretation, and the use of presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet software is expected, alongside familiarity with federal grant-making processes and experience working in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
