Position: Executive Director

Department: Administration

Job Summary: Hinds County Mental Health Commission, located in Jackson, MS, seeks a full-time executive director to oversee the day-to-day operations of HCMHC programs and services, including the management, utilization and conservation of financial, human and physical resources. Under the authority and supervision of the HCMHC commissioners, the executive director plans, develops, implements, manages and evaluates all HCMHC programs and services.

Qualifications: A master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in mental health, behavioral science or health-related field, a minimum of 5 years administrative experience in mental health, behavioral science or health related field and experience in fiscal management of a behavioral health, human or social services agency, governmental or nonprofit entity. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work harmoniously with HCMHC commissioners and staff, governmental and community agencies and leaders and the public. They must also possess leadership and organizational skills and must demonstrate skills in planning and program evaluation. Position: Psychiatrist

Department: Medical Services

Job Summary: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing sound medical care, assessing consumer needs for mental health services in a timely fashion; completing initial psychiatric evaluation, conducting medication evaluations as necessary to monitor consumer care and stability. Interviewing consumers and significant others to identify extent and effects of disorder(s). Assists in developing and implementing specific treatment/service plan based on study of consumer’s problems for an assigned caseload of consumers with mental health disorders and/or chemical dependency disorders, and facilitating compliance to clients of all age groups; in outpatient and emergency services.

Qualifications: Must be licensed in the State of Mississippi as a practicing physician. Board certification is also preferred. Previous experience in a chemical dependency treatment or mental health setting preferred. Ability to see all age groups preferred. Prefer experience in psychiatric consumer care throughout the life cycle. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric) limitations and planned procedures. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, with occasional exposure to unpleasant consumer elements. Good communication skills are necessary.

Position: Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (2 positions)

Job Summary: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides medical care to all age groups with mental health disorders and/or chemical dependency disorders. In addition, the Nurse provides diagnostic and therapeutic psychiatric services to Hinds Behavioral Health Services (HBHS) consumers, while making reasonable and sound Psychological/psychiatric assessments and treatment plans.

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nursing with specialty in Psychiatry/Mental Health and a valid Mississippi License. Board certification required. Accept or eligible to be accepted by all major insurance providers. Previous experience in a chemical dependency treatment or mental health setting preferred.
